The California Department of Food and Agriculture ended the 2025-2026 Mediterranean fruit fly quarantine in Santa Clara County as of July 8, 2026. This 11 month duration quarantine had restricted any harvesting or movement of home-grown fruit and most vegetables from a very large region covering much of Santa Clara, San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, and Milpitas. Village Harvest had suspended all home harvests in the area to comply.

Home tree owners are now permitted to pick, donate, or share their fruit in the former quarantine zone. Please see our Share Your Fruit page for more information about picking and using your fruit; finding your local food banks to make a fruit donation; and requesting harvest assistance from us if you are unable to pick from your tree due to age, physical ability, or high volume of fruit.

Village Harvest is not immediately resuming home harvests this summer in the affected region; many of our volunteer leaders and drivers are away on summer vacations and commitments. Tree owners may submit assistance requests and we'll notify them when home harvests resume.
