Former boundary of Santa Clara County fruit fly quarantine, ended effective May 16, 2024

The California Department of Food and Agriculture has ended the 2023-2024 oriental fruit fly quarantine in Santa Clara County as of May 16, 2024. This quarantine had restricted any harvesting or movement of home-grown fruit and most vegetables from a region covering all of Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and Cupertino and portions of San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, Los Altos, Mountain View, and Milpitas.

Home tree owners are now permitted to pick, donate, or share their fruit, and Village Harvest is now permitted to resume harvesting in the former quarantine zone. Please see our Share Your Fruit page for more information about picking and using your fruit; finding your local food banks to make a fruit donation; and requesting harvest assistance from us if you are unable to pick from your tree due to age, physical ability, or high volume of fruit.
