Bay Area Fruit Pest Quarantines

Currently there are State of California quarantines in most populated areas of all Bay Area counties for the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) fruit pest, which despite its name is not at all picky and the list of host plants is very long.  Since the LBAM is so destructive to our local agriculture and economy, it's important that these be eradicated where they are currently and not spread further.

If your trees are in a quarantine zone, the basic rule for homeowners is that no fruit or plant material is to be removed from your property unless by an authorized agent or after an inspection.  If you want to donate fruit directly to a local food agency, please check the LBAM Quarantine Maps below to see if you are affected.

Village Harvest works closely with the County Agriculture officials, and they are providing special inspection services to support our harvests.  We are grateful to the County Agriculture Departments for their help and cooperation.
